Kidney stones can be painful for the patient and some patients can pass them on their own.
Treatments include:
- Shockwave lithotripsy which focuses shockwave energy through the skin onto the stone
- Ureteroscopy which involves a small camera passed into the urinary tract to break the stone with a laser and retrieve the stone with basket
- PCNL – a technique that passes a small instrument through the skin of the back and through the wall of the kidney to break up the stone and vacuum it out.
